Description

These Air Fryer Fried Pickles are a crispy, tangy snack that delivers all the flavor of traditional fried pickles without the grease. Coated in a seasoned panko breadcrumb crust and served with a creamy sour cream and onion dip, they’re perfect for parties, game day, or guilt-free snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sliced dill pickles: provides tangy flavor and juicy texture
  • 2 large eggs: helps the coating stick to the pickles
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour: creates a base for the egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (e.g., Tabasco): adds a spicy kick
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt: enhances overall flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper: adds mild heat and seasoning
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs: delivers extra crunch
  • 1/4 cup sour cream: base for the dip
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise: adds creaminess to the dip
  • 1/4 cup minced onions: adds sharpness and flavor to the dip
  • 1 clove garlic, minced: adds depth and aroma
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill (optional): complements the pickles in the dip
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (for dip): balances the dip flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (for dip): adds a mild kick to the dip

Instructions

  1. Lay pickle slices on paper towels and pat them dry thoroughly to remove all excess moisture.
  2. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, flour, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  3. Place the panko breadcrumbs in a separate shallow bowl.
  4. Dip each pickle slice into the egg mixture, shake off the excess, then press into the breadcrumbs to fully coat.
  5. Transfer the breaded pickles to a baking sheet or plate and continue until all are coated.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  7. Arrange pickles in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overlapping. Spray lightly with oil.
  8. Air fry for 5–7 minutes, flip each pickle, spray again, and cook another 5–7 minutes until golden and crispy.
  9. In a small bowl, mix together sour cream, mayonnaise, minced onion, garlic, dill (if using), salt, and pepper to make the dip.
  10. Serve the fried pickles hot with the prepared dip on the side.

Notes

  • Make sure pickles are completely dry before breading to ensure crispiness.
  • Panko breadcrumbs create the crunchiest texture—avoid substituting with regular crumbs if possible.
  • For extra spice, add cayenne or use spicy pickles.
  • Cook in batches to avoid overcrowding the air fryer and promote even crisping.
  • Reheat leftovers in the air fryer at 375°F for 4–5 minutes to regain crunch.
