Description

A festive and beginner-friendly American Flag Layered Taco Dip that’s quick to prepare, perfect for parties, and customizable with fresh, flavorful ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 32 ounces refried beans
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (1.5 oz.)
  • 2 cups guacamole
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 3 cups tomatoes (diced)
  • 2.25 ounces black olives (sliced)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the refried beans with taco seasoning until smooth and well combined.
  2. Spread the seasoned bean mixture evenly in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish using a silicone spatula.
  3. Carefully layer the guacamole over the bean mixture, spreading gently to keep the layers separate.
  4. Spread the sour cream over the guacamole, again being careful not to mix layers.
  5. Decorate the top of the dip to resemble the American flag using diced tomatoes for red stripes, shredded mozzarella for white stripes, and black olives for the stars.
  6. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the layers to set and flavors to blend.

Notes

  • Use homemade or store-bought taco seasoning and guacamole based on preference and time.
  • To avoid watery layers, drain diced tomatoes and refrigerate dip promptly after assembling.
  • Greek yogurt can be used instead of sour cream for a lighter version.
  • Optional add-ins include salsa, diced onions, bell peppers, lettuce, or cooked ground meat.
