- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (or substitute with butter or oil)
- 1 large ripe avocado
- 0.5 lime (juice only)
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt (or to taste)
- 1 hard-boiled egg
- 1 tablespoon hot honey (or regular honey)
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on both sides of the sourdough bread slices.
- Toast the bread in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown on both sides, about 2–3 minutes per side.
- While the bread is toasting, mash the avocado in a bowl and mix in lime juice and salt to taste.
- Grate the hard-boiled egg using a cheese grater or microplane.
- Spread the mashed avocado mixture over the toasted bread slices.
- Drizzle hot honey over the avocado spread.
- Top with grated egg and sprinkle red pepper flakes if using.
- Drizzle a little more hot honey on top if desired, and serve immediately.
Notes

- Make your own hot honey by mixing regular honey with red pepper flakes.
- Prepare hard-boiled eggs and mashed avocado in advance for quicker assembly.
- If no grater is available, crumble or mash the egg by hand.
