Description

A quick, beginner-friendly avocado toast recipe topped with grated hard-boiled egg, hot honey, and red pepper flakes for a flavorful, nutritious meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices sourdough bread
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (or substitute with butter or oil)
  • 1 large ripe avocado
  • 0.5 lime (juice only)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt (or to taste)
  • 1 hard-boiled egg
  • 1 tablespoon hot honey (or regular honey)
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on both sides of the sourdough bread slices.
  2. Toast the bread in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown on both sides, about 2–3 minutes per side.
  3. While the bread is toasting, mash the avocado in a bowl and mix in lime juice and salt to taste.
  4. Grate the hard-boiled egg using a cheese grater or microplane.
  5. Spread the mashed avocado mixture over the toasted bread slices.
  6. Drizzle hot honey over the avocado spread.
  7. Top with grated egg and sprinkle red pepper flakes if using.
  8. Drizzle a little more hot honey on top if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use sturdy bread like sourdough to hold toppings well.
  • Make your own hot honey by mixing regular honey with red pepper flakes.
  • Prepare hard-boiled eggs and mashed avocado in advance for quicker assembly.
  • If no grater is available, crumble or mash the egg by hand.
