Description

Crispy bacon-wrapped shrimp glazed with honey and spices, broiled to perfection. A quick, crowd-pleasing appetizer ideal for beginner cooks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound extra-jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails on
  • 1 pound center-cut bacon (not thick cut)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)
  • Toothpicks (for securing shrimp)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Slice bacon lengthwise into thin strips and lay on a baking sheet. Bake for 6–8 minutes until partially cooked but still pliable.
  2. In a bowl, mix olive oil, honey, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Add shrimp and coat thoroughly. Let sit for 5–10 minutes to absorb flavor.
  3. Transfer bacon to paper towels to drain excess grease. Switch oven to broil and line a clean baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Wrap each seasoned shrimp with a strip of bacon, starting at the thick end, and secure with a toothpick. Place seam-side down on the baking sheet with space between each shrimp.
  5. Broil for 4–6 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through. Look for crispy bacon and opaque, curled shrimp. Serve immediately with lemon wedges and dipping sauces of choice.

Notes

  • Soak toothpicks in water for 10 minutes to prevent burning.
  • If bacon browns too quickly, lower the oven rack.
  • Can be assembled up to 4 hours in advance and refrigerated until ready to broil.
  • Use fresh shrimp for the best flavor and texture.
  • Great served with cocktail sauce, garlic aioli, or lemon butter.
