- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
- ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ¾ cup maple syrup
- 1 ½ tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ cup confectioners’ sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a donut pan with non-stick spray.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice, salt, and baking soda.
- In a stand mixer bowl, beat the melted butter and brown sugar on medium-high until well combined, about 1-2 minutes.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing after each addition. Then beat in the pumpkin puree and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.
- Scoop the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about three-quarters full.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts are slightly golden and spring back when touched.
- Let the donuts cool for 10 minutes before dipping the tops into the warm maple glaze.
Notes
- Ensure the batter is thick enough, and not too runny. If it is, add a bit more flour.
- Donuts can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature.
- If you want to make them ahead, freeze the donuts without the glaze, then glaze them when you’re ready to serve.
