Baked tortellini is a comforting, cheesy pasta dish perfect for busy weeknights. With cheese-filled tortellini, marinara sauce, and a combination of mozzarella and cheddar, it’s a simple yet satisfying meal everyone will love.

- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 medium onion, chopped
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 cups marinara sauce (one 24 oz. jar)
- 2 (9 ounce) packages uncooked refrigerated cheese tortellini
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F and move the rack to the top third of the oven.
- Add the olive oil and onion to a skillet over medium-high heat and sauté for 4-5 minutes until the onion is soft.
- Stir in the ground beef and minced garlic. Cook, breaking the meat up with your spoon, until the beef is browned (about 8-10 minutes). Remove any excess fat.
- Transfer the cooked beef mixture to a 9×13 casserole dish.
- Add the marinara sauce, cheese tortellini, and season with salt and pepper. Mix well and spread evenly.
- Top with shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 35-40 minutes, until the tortellini is cooked and the cheese has melted.
- If desired, remove the foil and broil for 2-3 minutes to brown the cheese.
- Let the dish cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
Notes
- Use refrigerated tortellini for quicker cooking. If using frozen tortellini, increase the baking time by 10 minutes.
- You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or Italian sausage for a different flavor.
- Feel free to make this dish ahead of time and refrigerate overnight. Just add a few extra minutes to the baking time when reheating.
- If you prefer a crispier top, broil the dish for a couple of minutes after baking.
