Description

This Biscuits and Gravy Breakfast Casserole is the ultimate comfort food for brunch lovers. With layers of flaky biscuits, savory sausage, creamy country gravy, and melted cheese, it’s a make-ahead, crowd-pleasing recipe that’s perfect for weekends, holidays, or any cozy morning.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 7.5 oz refrigerated canned biscuits (10-count tube)
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage (savory variety)
  • 2 cups Colby-jack cheese, shredded
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 packet country gravy mix (yields 2 cups prepared)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into crumbles. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Prepare the country gravy in the same skillet according to package directions until thickened.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, garlic powder, and black pepper. Add cooked sausage and 1 cup of shredded cheese. Stir well.
  5. Cut each biscuit into quarters and layer evenly on the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  6. Pour the egg and sausage mixture evenly over the biscuit layer.
  7. Pour the prepared gravy over the top and sprinkle with the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheese.
  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until eggs are set and biscuits are golden.
  9. Let cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Do not overcook the sausage – just brown it until no longer pink.
  • Let the casserole rest before slicing to help it set.
  • Use spicy sausage or add hot sauce for a kick.
  • Can be prepped the night before and baked fresh in the morning.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
