Ingredients
Scale
- 1 recipe shredded chicken (about 3 cups): provides juicy protein base
- 2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese: adds melty, cheesy richness
- 1/2 cup ranch dressing: creamy tang to balance the heat
- 1/3 cup buffalo hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot): spicy kick and classic buffalo flavor
- 1/4 tsp salt: enhances flavor of chicken
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper: adds a touch of heat
- 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls: soft, slightly sweet base for the sliders
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted: for brushing the tops of the rolls
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning: infuses herb flavor into butter topping
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder: aromatic boost to the butter topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine shredded chicken, ranch dressing, buffalo hot sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping them attached as a sheet. Place the bottom half in a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Spread the chicken mixture evenly over the bottom rolls.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese generously over the chicken layer.
- Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese layer to close the sliders.
- In a small bowl, mix melted butter, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
- Brush the tops of the rolls with the seasoned butter mixture.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake uncovered for an additional 5 minutes, until cheese is melted and tops are golden brown.
- Remove from oven, let sit for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm.
Notes
- Use rotisserie chicken for a quick and easy shortcut.
- Reduce or omit hot sauce for a milder version suitable for kids.
- Add jalapeños or pepper jack cheese for a spicier version.
- Prep ahead and refrigerate — bake just before serving.
- Reheat leftovers in the oven or air fryer to keep the rolls crisp.
