Description

Carrot Shaped Pull Apart Bread is a festive, cheesy Easter appetizer made with fluffy buttermilk biscuits stuffed with mozzarella, brushed with garlic butter, and topped with melted American cheese to resemble a bright orange carrot. This shareable pull-apart bread is soft, gooey, buttery, and perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cans (16.3 oz each) Pillsbury Grands Buttermilk Biscuits
  • 10 mozzarella string cheese sticks (about 10 oz total), each cut into 4 pieces
  • 9 slices (about 6 oz) American cheese, torn into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons (28 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley stems (for garnish)
  • Non-stick cooking spray (for baking sheet)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil and coat it with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Cut each mozzarella string cheese stick into 4 equal pieces and set aside.
  3. Open the biscuit cans and carefully split each biscuit in half horizontally to create thinner rounds.
  4. Place one piece of mozzarella in the center of each biscuit round. Wrap the dough around the cheese, pinch the seams tightly to seal, and roll into a smooth ball. Repeat to form 39 stuffed dough balls.
  5. Arrange the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet in a carrot shape: start with 1 ball at the bottom, then 2 above it, followed by 2 rows of 3, 2 rows of 4, 2 rows of 5, and finish with 2 rows of 6 at the top.
  6. Gently press the balls together to define the carrot shape.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder. Brush the garlic butter evenly over the tops of all the dough balls.
  8. Tear the American cheese slices into pieces and cover the carrot-shaped dough evenly to create the orange carrot appearance.
  9. Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the center is fully cooked. If needed, add extra cheese during baking to cover any uncovered spots.
  10. Remove from the oven and carefully transfer the foil with the bread onto a serving board. Place parsley stems at the top to resemble carrot greens. Serve warm.

Notes

  • You may have a few extra biscuits left over; bake them separately if desired.
  • Ensure each dough ball is tightly sealed to prevent cheese from leaking during baking.
  • If the top browns too quickly, loosely tent with foil while the center finishes baking.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the microwave for 20–30 seconds.
  • For a smaller version, halve all ingredients and reduce baking time slightly.
