Description
Chicken Alfredo Sloppy Joes are a creamy, savory twist on the classic sandwich. Made with ground chicken, rich Alfredo sauce, and toasted buns, this easy 25-minute meal is perfect for busy weeknights or comforting family dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground chicken: provides a lean, protein-rich base
- 1 tablespoon olive oil: helps cook and brown the chicken evenly
- 2 tablespoons butter: adds richness to the Alfredo sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced: enhances the savory flavor of the sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream: creates the creamy base of the Alfredo
- 1/2 cup prepared Alfredo sauce: boosts flavor and creaminess
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning: adds a balanced herb flavor
- Salt and pepper to taste: enhances and balances overall flavor
- 4 Sloppy Joe buns, toasted: holds the creamy filling with a crisp texture
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground chicken and cook for 10–12 minutes, breaking it into small pieces, until fully cooked and no longer pink. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium-low. In the same skillet, melt butter, then add minced garlic. Cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the heavy cream and prepared Alfredo sauce. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- Add Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the sauce. Stir to combine.
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and stir until the meat is fully coated with the Alfredo sauce. Simmer for 2–3 minutes to heat through.
- While the filling simmers, toast the buns until golden brown.
- Assemble the sandwiches by spooning a generous amount of the chicken Alfredo mixture onto each bun. Serve warm.
Notes
- Use freshly minced garlic for a more aromatic flavor.
- Don’t skip toasting the buns — it prevents sogginess and adds texture.
- Leftover filling can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
- You can substitute ground turkey for ground chicken.
- Add shredded mozzarella or Parmesan for an extra cheesy version.
