Description

Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl Cookies are soft, chewy chocolate cookies marbled with creamy peanut butter for the perfect balance of rich cocoa flavor and nutty sweetness. These bakery-style cookies feature crisp edges, tender centers, and beautiful swirls in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (110g) packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (130g) creamy peanut butter

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until evenly combined.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Drop small dollops of creamy peanut butter over the chocolate dough and gently swirl with a knife or skewer to create a marbled effect.
  6. Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up and enhance flavor.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  8. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers remain slightly soft.
  10. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Chilling the dough helps prevent excessive spreading and keeps the swirls defined.
  • Avoid over-swirling the peanut butter to maintain distinct marbled patterns.
  • For thicker cookies, chill the dough up to 2 hours.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
  • Freeze baked cookies for up to 3 months in a sealed container.
