Description
Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl Cookies are soft, chewy chocolate cookies marbled with creamy peanut butter for the perfect balance of rich cocoa flavor and nutty sweetness. These bakery-style cookies feature crisp edges, tender centers, and beautiful swirls in every bite.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (110g) packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg (room temperature)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (130g) creamy peanut butter
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until evenly combined.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Drop small dollops of creamy peanut butter over the chocolate dough and gently swirl with a knife or skewer to create a marbled effect.
- Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up and enhance flavor.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers remain slightly soft.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Chilling the dough helps prevent excessive spreading and keeps the swirls defined.
- Avoid over-swirling the peanut butter to maintain distinct marbled patterns.
- For thicker cookies, chill the dough up to 2 hours.
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
- Freeze baked cookies for up to 3 months in a sealed container.
