Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/2 cup salted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup salted butter, softened (for the filling)
- 1 cup brown sugar (for the filling)
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon (for the filling)
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened (for the icing)
- 1/2 cup salted butter, browned (for the icing)
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (for the icing)
- 1/4 cup salted caramel sauce (for the icing)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for the icing)
- Pinch of salt (for the icing)
Instructions
- In a stand mixer, combine warm milk, yeast, and brown sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly. Add melted butter, eggs, flour, vanilla, and salt. Mix until smooth, adding flour as needed.
- Cover and let the dough rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- For the filling, combine brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a 12×18-inch rectangle. Spread softened butter and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12-15 rolls. Place them in a buttered 9×13-inch baking dish. Let them rise for 15-20 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- To make the icing, brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. In a bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Add the browned butter, powdered sugar, caramel sauce, vanilla, and salt. Mix until smooth.
- Spread the warm icing over the baked rolls and serve immediately.
