Description

This Christmas Funfetti Bread is a festive, colorful, and moist quick bread packed with rainbow sprinkles and sweet vanilla flavor. Perfect for holiday breakfasts, dessert tables, or edible gifts, it’s easy to prepare and kid-approved.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour: provides structure and softness
  • 1 cup granulated sugar: adds sweetness and moisture
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened: adds richness and a tender crumb
  • 1/2 cup sour cream: creates a moist, slightly tangy texture
  • 2 large eggs: binds the batter and adds structure
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract: enhances flavor and aroma
  • 1 tsp baking powder: helps the bread rise
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda: reacts with sour cream for lift
  • 1/4 tsp salt: balances sweetness and enhances flavor
  • 1/2 cup milk: thins the batter for a smooth texture
  • 1/2 cup rainbow sprinkles: adds festive color and fun
  • Extra rainbow sprinkles for topping: decorative finish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a standard loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract and sour cream until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in 1/2 cup of rainbow sprinkles, being careful not to overmix.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  8. Sprinkle additional rainbow sprinkles on top of the batter.
  9. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • Use jimmies instead of nonpareils to prevent color bleeding.
  • Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing.
  • Do not overmix after adding the flour to keep the bread tender.
  • This bread freezes well — slice and store in airtight containers for up to 3 months.
