Description

Cinnamon sugar Easter bunny twists are flaky puff pastry treats filled with buttery cinnamon sugar and baked until golden brown. Finished with a sweet frosting tail, these festive twists are easy to make and perfect for Easter brunch, dessert tables, or fun baking with kids.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (17.3 oz) frozen puff pastry sheets (2 sheets), thawed
  • 2 tablespoons (28 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon (8 g) ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons (25 g) granulated sugar
  • 4 oz (113 g) white frosting (plus extra if desired for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Remove the puff pastry sheets from the freezer and thaw for about 45 minutes, until cold but pliable. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unfold both puff pastry sheets onto a clean surface. Brush 2 tablespoons melted butter evenly over each sheet, leaving a 1/2-inch border along the long sides without butter.
  3. In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon with 2 tablespoons granulated sugar. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over one pastry sheet, avoiding the 1/2-inch border.
  4. Lightly brush water along the unbuttered 1/2-inch edges. Place the second pastry sheet on top, buttered side down, aligning edges carefully. Press gently and crimp the long sides with a fork to seal.
  5. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, slice the pastry in half lengthwise, then cut into 16 equal strips.
  6. Twist each strip twice, forming a loop at the bottom with the ends pointing upward to resemble bunny ears. Place twists on the prepared baking sheet, spaced slightly apart.
  7. Bake for 17–18 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed. Remove from the oven and cool for 20 minutes.
  8. Pipe about 1 teaspoon of white frosting onto the bottom loop of each twist to create a bunny tail. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Keep puff pastry cold while working to ensure maximum flakiness.
  • If the dough becomes too soft, refrigerate for 10–15 minutes before continuing.
  • For deeper flavor, substitute light brown sugar for granulated sugar.
  • Store unfrosted twists in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
  • Add frosting just before serving for the best texture and presentation.
