Description

Classic Parisian Hot Chocolate is a rich, velvety beverage made with real dark chocolate, whole milk, and cream. It delivers a luxurious, café-style experience in just 10 minutes, perfect for chilly days or special moments.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole milk: provides a creamy base
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream: adds richness and thickness
  • 1 tablespoon sugar: enhances the chocolate’s natural sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract: adds warm aromatic flavor
  • 6 oz dark chocolate (70% cocoa), chopped: the key to deep, velvety texture
  • Whipped cream or chocolate shavings (optional): for topping and extra indulgence


Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 2 cups of whole milk and 1/2 cup of heavy cream. Warm over medium-low heat until small bubbles form at the edges. Do not boil.
  2. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Whisk gently to combine.
  3. Add 6 oz of finely chopped dark chocolate (70%) to the warm milk. Let it sit for 30 seconds to soften.
  4. Whisk continuously until the chocolate fully melts and the mixture becomes smooth and glossy.
  5. Continue to cook on low heat, whisking constantly for 3–5 minutes until the hot chocolate thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
  6. Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream or chocolate shavings if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use high-quality chocolate bars, not chocolate chips, for a smoother result.
  • Do not allow the mixture to boil, as it can cause separation or burning.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat gently on the stove.
  • To make vegan: use dairy-free chocolate, oat milk, and coconut cream.
