Description

Cranberry Orange Jam is a delicious and easy-to-make recipe that combines the tartness of cranberries with the bright citrus flavor of oranges. Perfect as a spread for toast, a topping for desserts, or even a unique holiday gift, this jam brings festive flavors to your table. With a simple set of ingredients and no need for canning, it’s a quick and flavorful way to enjoy the season’s best fruits.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 16 ounces fresh cranberries
  • Juice and zest of 1 orange (juice should be about ½ cup)
  • 1 medium apple (peeled, cored, and grated)
  • 2 tablespoons orange liqueur (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the cranberries and place them in a medium saucepan. Add the sugar, shredded apple, and orange zest.
  2. Then add the orange juice and stir. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a low boil.
  3. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes. Stir occasionally, and you’ll hear the cranberries pop.
  4. If using orange liqueur, add it to the jam about 10 minutes in.
  5. Using a potato masher, mash some of the berries to break them down further, leaving some texture as you prefer.
  6. Let the jam simmer for an additional 5 minutes. Check for consistency and taste for sweetness, adjusting if needed.
  7. Remove the pan from heat and allow the jam to cool slightly before transferring it to clean jars.
  8. Refrigerate the jam for up to 2-4 weeks or freeze for later use.

Notes

  • Ensure that cranberries are thoroughly rinsed and sorted before cooking.
  • If using frozen cranberries, there is no need to thaw them first.
  • For a thicker consistency, cook a little longer and use a masher to break down more cranberries.
  • This recipe is designed for refrigeration or freezing, not for canning.
  • Feel free to skip the orange liqueur for a non-alcoholic version.
