Description

This creamy and cheesy beef goulash recipe combines ground beef, elbow macaroni, and a delicious blend of mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, creating a rich, comforting dish that’s perfect for any occasion. It’s easy to make, flavorful, and will quickly become a family favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs ground beef or turkey
  • 3 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 large yellow onion, diced
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 2 15-ounce cans tomato sauce
  • 2 15-ounce cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon Adobo seasoning
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1 tablespoon seasoned salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon black pepper
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef or turkey and cook until it is halfway browned. Remove from heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and diced onions to the skillet and continue cooking until the meat is fully browned and the onions are softened.
  3. Pour in water, beef broth, tomato sauce, and diced tomatoes. Stir in Italian seasoning, Adobo seasoning, bay leaves, seasoned salt, and black pepper. Mix everything together and bring to a simmer.
  4. Reduce the heat, cover the skillet, and let the mixture cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add the uncooked elbow macaroni to the skillet, stirring it into the sauce until everything is evenly combined. Cover the skillet again and let it simmer for another 30 minutes, or until the macaroni is fully cooked.
  6. Once the macaroni is cooked, remove the bay leaves and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and combined.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top just before serving to allow it to melt and create a creamy, cheesy finish.

Notes

  • Be sure to check the macaroni for doneness during the simmering stage to avoid overcooking.
  • If you prefer a spicier dish, you can add red pepper flakes or chili powder to the sauce.
  • For a richer flavor, let the goulash rest for 10 minutes after cooking to allow the flavors to meld.
  • This recipe is perfect for meal prepping and can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
