Description

Crispy Air Fryer Apple Fries are a quick and comforting dessert made with fresh apples coated in a lightly sweet cinnamon-spice mixture and air fried until golden and crisp. This easy recipe creates tender apple fries with a crunchy exterior, perfect for serving as a warm snack or fall-inspired dessert with your favorite dipping sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large Granny Smith apples (peeled, cored, and cut into fry-shaped strips)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil spray

Instructions

  1. In a large resealable plastic bag, combine 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg, and 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves. Seal the bag and shake well until the mixture is evenly combined.
  2. Peel and core 2 large Granny Smith apples. Slice them into wedges and then cut each wedge into approximately 1/2-inch thick fry-like strips.
  3. Add the apple strips into the bag with the coating mixture. Seal the bag again and shake until all apple pieces are evenly coated.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
  5. Arrange the coated apple fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding to allow proper airflow.
  6. Lightly spray the apple fries with cooking oil spray.
  7. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 5 minutes.
  8. Open the air fryer, flip the apple fries carefully, and lightly spray with a little more oil if needed.
  9. Continue cooking for another 5 minutes or until the apple fries become golden brown and crispy.
  10. Remove the fries from the air fryer and allow them to cool for 2–3 minutes before serving warm with caramel sauce, yogurt dip, or chocolate sauce.

Notes

  • Use firm apples such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp to prevent the fries from becoming too soft.
  • Cut the apple strips evenly to ensure consistent cooking.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  • A light spray of oil helps the coating become golden and crisp.
  • Serve immediately for the best crunchy texture.
