Description

Festive Crinkle Cookies are bright green, chewy treats topped with adorable red heart candies, perfect for holiday celebrations. These cookies are quick to prepare, with a delightful minty flavor that children and adults alike will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • Few drops green food coloring
  • Extra sugar, for rolling
  • Red heart candies, for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir to combine.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  4. Mix in vanilla, peppermint extract, and eggs one at a time. Beat until smooth.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
  6. Add green food coloring and mix until the dough is evenly colored.
  7. Form dough into small balls, then roll them in extra sugar to coat them completely.
  8. Place the dough balls on the baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Slightly flatten them with your fingers.
  9. Top each dough ball with a red heart candy, pressing it gently into the dough.
  10. Bake for 8 minutes or until the edges are slightly golden and the centers are still soft.
  11. Let the cookies rest on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For best results, do not overmix the dough. Be careful not to overbake the cookies to keep them soft.
  • If you want to make the dough ahead of time, chill it in the fridge for 30 minutes to make it easier to handle.
  • These cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days at room temperature.
  • For a fun variation, try rolling the dough balls in powdered sugar instead of granulated sugar for a more dramatic crinkle effect.
