Description

These fig and goat cheese crostini are a perfect combination of savory, sweet, and creamy flavors. They are quick and easy to make, ideal for any occasion, and sure to impress your guests with minimal effort. Fresh figs, creamy goat cheese, and a touch of honey and thyme make for a delightful appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 French baguette, sliced
  • 8 ounces goat cheese, softened
  • 4 fresh figs, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the broiler and place the sliced French baguette on a baking sheet. Toast the bread for about 5 minutes, or until the edges just begin to brown.
  2. Remove the bread from the oven. To make the goat cheese spreadable, place it in the microwave for 5 seconds.
  3. Spread a generous layer of softened goat cheese on each toasted bread slice.
  4. Add a spoonful of fig jam to each slice of bread.
  5. Top with a few slices of fresh figs.
  6. Drizzle honey over the figs for added sweetness.
  7. Sprinkle freshly cracked black pepper and fresh thyme on top of each crostini.
  8. Return the crostini to the broiler for 2-3 minutes, until the honey starts to bubble and the bread edges brown slightly.
  9. Remove from the oven and serve immediately while still warm and delicious.

Notes

  • Make sure not to over-toast the bread as it will become too hard to bite into.
  • You can substitute goat cheese with brie for a creamier alternative.
  • Fresh figs can be swapped with dried figs; just soak them in warm water for a few minutes before slicing.
  • For a vegan option, use a plant-based cheese like cashew cheese.
