Description

Fig and Pumpkin Seed Bruschetta is an easy-to-make fall appetizer that combines creamy cheeses, sweet fig spread, and crunchy pumpkin seeds on toasted French bread. Perfect for holiday gatherings or casual picnics.


Ingredients

  • 1 French bread loaf, sliced
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 4 oz goat cheese
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 1/4 cup fig spread


Instructions

  1. Leave the cream cheese out for an hour to soften. In a bowl, combine the cream cheese and goat cheese. Add 2 teaspoons of honey and mix until smooth.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the French bread into individual pieces, drizzle with EVOO, and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place on a baking sheet and toast for 15-20 minutes until golden and crispy.
  3. Spread the cheese mixture evenly on each slice of toasted bread.
  4. Top each bruschetta with a generous layer of fig spread.
  5. Sprinkle pumpkin seeds over the top of each bruschetta and serve.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free version, substitute the cream cheese and goat cheese with plant-based alternatives.
  • If you don’t have fig spread, you can use fig jam or another fruit spread like apricot.
  • For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free bread instead of French bread.
