- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 cups (340 g) freshly shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Instructions
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter completely without letting it brown.
- Whisk in the flour and cook for 1โ2 minutes, stirring constantly, until a smooth, lightly golden roux forms.
- Slowly pour in the Guinness stout while whisking continuously to prevent lumps and create a smooth base.
- Add the whole milk and continue whisking. Cook for 3โ5 minutes until the mixture thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
- Stir in the brown mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until fully combined.
- Reduce the heat to low and gradually add the shredded cheddar cheese, stirring constantly until completely melted and smooth.
- Remove from heat and serve immediately. If the dip becomes too thick, stir in a small splash of milk or Guinness to loosen.
