Halloween Crack

Halloween Crack

Halloween Crack is a sweet, salty, and crunchy treat made with saltine crackers, caramel, melted chocolate, and festive Halloween toppings. It’s the perfect snack for Halloween parties or holiday indulgence!

  • Total Time: 1 hour 20 minutes (including setting time)
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 40 saltine crackers
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Halloween-themed sprinkles
  • Assorted Halloween candies (M&Ms, candy corn, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C). While it heats, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lay out the saltine crackers in a single layer, side by side. Make sure the crackers cover the entire surface of the baking sheet.
  2. Make the Caramel: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar together. Stir the mixture constantly and bring it to a boil. Once it starts boiling, let it cook for 3 minutes, continuing to stir so it doesn’t burn.
  3. Pour Over Crackers: Remove the caramel mixture from the heat and carefully pour it over the saltine crackers. Use a spatula to spread it evenly, making sure each cracker is fully coated with that rich, buttery caramel.
  4. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake the crackers and caramel for 5 minutes, or until the caramel is bubbling nicely.
  5. Melt the Chocolate: Take the baking sheet out of the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot caramel layer. Let them sit for 1-2 minutes to melt. Then, use a spatula to spread the chocolate evenly over the top.
  6. Add the Festive Touch: While the chocolate is still soft, sprinkle your Halloween-themed sprinkles and assorted Halloween candies on top. Get creative—there’s no wrong way to decorate your Halloween Crack!
  7. Set and Break: Allow the Halloween Crack to cool completely at room temperature, then transfer it to the fridge for about an hour to set. Once it’s fully hardened, break it into pieces and get ready to enjoy the most addictive Halloween treat ever!

Notes

  • Substitute Candies: If you’re not a fan of the classic M&Ms or candy corn, feel free to swap them out for other festive candies like Reese’s Pieces, mini marshmallows, or even some chopped-up Twix bars. The goal is to make it fun and festive!
  • Line Your Baking Sheet Well: Trust us, you don’t want to skip the parchment paper! The caramel can get sticky, and it will be much easier to remove the Halloween Crack if you’ve lined your baking sheet properly.
  • Storage: If you somehow have leftovers (which is rare!), store your Halloween Crack in an airtight container. It will stay fresh for up to a week, but we doubt it will last that long!
