Description

Million Dollar Ravioli Casserole is a rich, creamy baked pasta dish layered with cheese-filled ravioli, a savory meat and tomato sauce, and a decadent blend of ricotta, sour cream, and cream cheese. It’s a family-friendly, freezer-ready comfort food perfect for weeknights or special gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef: provides a hearty, savory base
  • 1 small onion, chopped: adds sweetness and depth
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced: infuses classic Italian aroma
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce: rich tomato base
  • 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes: enhances texture and flavor
  • 1 package (25 oz) frozen cheese ravioli: tender pasta filled with cheese, no pre-cooking needed
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese: creamy and slightly tangy
  • 1/2 cup sour cream: adds smooth texture and richness
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened: creamy body to the cheese mixture
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese: gooey, melty topping
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese: nutty, salty flavor boost
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning: adds herbal depth
  • Salt and pepper to taste: enhances overall flavor
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional): adds freshness and color

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef, chopped onion, and garlic until beef is browned and onions are soft. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in marinara sauce and crushed tomatoes. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, combine ricotta, sour cream, and softened cream cheese. Mix until smooth.
  5. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of the baking dish.
  6. Place half the frozen ravioli in a single layer over the sauce.
  7. Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the ravioli.
  8. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella on top of the cheese mixture.
  9. Layer more meat sauce over the mozzarella.
  10. Add remaining ravioli in a single layer.
  11. Top with remaining meat sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.
  12. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  13. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  14. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
  15. Cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

  • You can assemble the casserole in advance and refrigerate until ready to bake.
  • Use fresh ravioli if preferred, but reduce baking time slightly.
  • Substitute ground turkey or sausage for beef if desired.
  • Leftovers reheat well and can be frozen for up to 3 months.
