- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup rolled oats
- ½ cup brown sugar, packed
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and diced
- Vanilla ice cream (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease an 8-inch square or 7×11-inch baking dish.
- Wash and dry the mixed berries and place them in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with granulated sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon. Toss to coat and set aside.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt. Add the cold diced butter and use a fork or your hands to mix it into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the streusel topping evenly over the berry mixture.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the berry filling is bubbling.
- Let the crisp sit for 5-10 minutes before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.
Notes
- Frozen berries can be used in place of fresh berries. Add 3-5 extra minutes to the baking time if using frozen berries.
- For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free flour blend and certified gluten-free oats.
- The topping can be made in advance and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Allow the crisp to cool for a few minutes before serving to let the filling set properly.
