- 1/4 cup (50 g) granulated white sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1/3 teaspoon baking soda

- 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (90 g) chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup (85 g) M&M candies
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease or line an 8×6-inch or 9×7-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture and beat until fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a soft cookie dough forms.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and most of the M&M candies, reserving a small handful for topping.
- Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan, pressing it gently into the corners.
- Sprinkle the remaining M&M candies on top of the dough.
- Bake for 18–20 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares and serving.
Notes
- Do not overmix the dough once the flour is added to keep the cookie bars soft and tender.
- Slightly underbaking the bars will help maintain a chewy texture.
- Use room temperature butter for easier mixing and better texture.
