Soft, mild, and festive, they’re a hit with both kids and adults.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 mini mozzarella balls (ciliegine): soft, mild cheese perfect for molding
- 1 silicone skull mold (oven-safe): for shaping the mozzarella into skulls
- Paper towels: to blot moisture from mozzarella balls
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Blot each mini mozzarella ball with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
- Place one mozzarella ball into each cavity of the oven-safe silicone skull mold.
- Put the mold on a baking sheet and bake for 8–10 minutes until the cheese is soft but not melted.
- Remove from the oven and gently press the softened mozzarella into the mold using the back of a spoon.
- Blot any excess moisture again with a paper towel.
- Refrigerate the mold for 10 minutes or until the skulls are firm and cool.
- Carefully unmold each skull and serve or store in the refrigerator.
Notes
- Make sure your silicone mold is labeled oven-safe before baking.
- Blotting the mozzarella helps it melt and mold better.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Use different shapes of molds like pumpkins or ghosts for variety.
