Description
Inspired by the iconic Angelina Café in Paris, this Paris Hot Chocolate recipe is ultra-rich, thick, and creamy. Made with high-quality dark chocolate, cream, and a hint of espresso, it’s a luxurious drink meant to be sipped and savored like a dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- ¾ cup (180g) milk: Provides the liquid base and balances the richness.
- 1 cup (240g) heavy cream: Adds creamy texture and luxurious mouthfeel.
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar: Lightly sweetens without graininess.
- ½ teaspoon espresso powder: Deepens the chocolate flavor with subtle coffee notes.
- 8 oz (226g) dark chocolate (60–70% cocoa): Brings intense chocolate flavor and thick consistency.
Instructions
- Combine milk, cream, powdered sugar, espresso powder, and chopped dark chocolate in a nonstick saucepan.
- Place the saucepan over medium-low heat and stir continuously using a spatula.
- Cook for about 5–7 minutes until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture comes to a gentle boil.
- Remove from heat and pour into cups while hot.
- Serve with plain whipped cream and optionally a fresh croissant for the authentic Parisian experience.
Notes
- Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor and smooth texture.
- Adjust the thickness by adding a splash of milk if desired.
- Espresso powder is optional but enhances the depth of the chocolate.
- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated gently.
