Ingredients
Scale
- 9 oz Fritos corn chips
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and spread the Fritos evenly across the bottom.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the light corn syrup and granulated sugar. Microwave for 1 minute, stir well, and continue microwaving in 1-minute increments until the mixture begins to boil, which should take about 3 minutes in total.
- Remove the mixture from the microwave and stir in the peanut butter until smooth.
- Pour the peanut butter mixture evenly over the Fritos. Do not stir. Ensure all chips are coated.
- If using, melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, then spread the melted chocolate over the peanut butter-covered Fritos.
- Allow the bars to cool for about 1 hour to set. Once cooled, cut into bars or squares.
Notes
- Store leftover bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
- For a healthier version, try using natural peanut butter with no added sugar.
- Refrigerating the bars will make them firmer if you prefer a denser texture.
