Description

Pecan Pie Balls are a sweet and nutty dessert that combines the rich flavors of pecans with a buttery texture. These bite-sized cookies are simple to make, perfect for holiday gatherings or as a homemade treat any time of the year.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and mix until well incorporated.
  4. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the finely chopped pecans gently.
  6. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the bottoms of the cookies are lightly golden.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes.
  9. While still warm, roll each cookie in powdered sugar until fully coated.
  10. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. After cooling, roll them in powdered sugar again for a second coating.
  11. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the dough after adding the flour to avoid tough cookies.
  • Check the doneness of the cookies by looking for a lightly golden bottom.
  • Rolling in powdered sugar twice gives the cookies a beautiful and extra sweet finish.
  • Feel free to use margarine or a plant-based butter substitute to make these cookies dairy-free.
