Description

These easy pimento cheese sausage balls combine Southern charm with simple preparation—perfect for parties, beginners, or make-ahead snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pork breakfast sausage (mild or hot)
  • 1 1/2 cups prepared pimento cheese (such as Palmetto brand)
  • 2 cups Bisquick or similar baking mix
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly spray with non-stick spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the uncooked sausage and pimento cheese using clean hands or a stand mixer until evenly mixed.
  3. Add the Bisquick and optional red pepper to the bowl, mixing until the dough is thick and sticky. If needed, add more Bisquick to firm it up.
  4. Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them evenly on the prepared baking sheet. A small cookie scoop helps maintain uniform size.
  5. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and fully cooked through. Cut one open to ensure the center is no longer pink.

Notes

  • If the mixture is too sticky, chill it for 10–15 minutes before rolling.
  • Use hot sausage and jalapeño pimento cheese for a spicier version.
  • You can freeze unbaked sausage balls for later and bake straight from the freezer, adding a few extra minutes to cook time.
  • Store cooked sausage balls in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage.
