Description

Pink marble cake is a visually stunning and delicious dessert made with vanilla, chocolate, and a vibrant pink batter. The soft and buttery texture, combined with the marble effect, creates a show-stopping treat perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 250g butter, softened
  • 275g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs
  • 335g all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 180ml milk
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp extra milk
  • Pink food coloring (a few drops)
  • 90g softened butter for frosting
  • 160g icing sugar
  • 1 tbsp milk (for frosting)
  • 2-3 drops pink food coloring (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F). Grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat 250g softened butter until smooth. Add 275g granulated sugar and 1 tsp vanilla extract, and beat until fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together 335g all-purpose flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp baking soda, and a pinch of salt.
  5. Alternate adding the dry ingredients and 180ml milk to the butter mixture. Start and end with the dry ingredients. Mix gently until combined.
  6. Separate the batter into three bowls: one for plain batter, one with a few drops of pink food coloring, and one with 2 tbsp cocoa powder and 2 tbsp extra milk mixed together.
  7. Alternately spoon the three colored batters into the prepared pan, and use a knife or skewer to swirl them together to create the marble effect.
  8. Bake the cake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow it to cool for 15-30 minutes before inverting onto a cooling rack.
  9. To make the frosting, beat 90g softened butter until light. Sift in 160g icing sugar and mix. Add 1 tbsp milk and beat until smooth.
  10. Add 2-3 drops of pink food coloring to the frosting and swirl gently to create streaks. Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled cake.
  11. Chill the cake for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for the best texture.
  • Don’t overmix the batter to avoid a dense cake.
  • If the cake is still wet after 50 minutes of baking, continue baking and check every 5 minutes.
  • For a more intense pink color, add more drops of food coloring to the batter and frosting.
  • Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting.
