Description
This easy Ravioli Lasagna, also known as Lazy Lasagna, is a delicious and comforting baked pasta dish made with layers of frozen cheese ravioli, hearty meat sauce, and gooey mozzarella cheese. It captures all the flavors of traditional lasagna without the fuss of boiling noodles or mixing ricotta. Perfect for busy weeknights, family dinners, or casual entertaining.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound lean ground beef or Italian sausage: provides a rich, savory base for the sauce
- 24 ounces marinara or pasta sauce: adds moisture and robust Italian flavor
- 25 ounces frozen cheese ravioli: acts as both pasta and cheese layers
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese: melts for a gooey, cheesy top
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder: enhances the depth of flavor
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning or dried oregano: brings herbaceous notes
- 1/4 cup reserved marinara sauce: used for the base layer to prevent sticking
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional): for a salty, nutty topping
- Cooking spray: prevents sticking in the baking dish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or sausage until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Add all but 3/4 cup of the marinara sauce to the skillet and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Spread 1/4 cup of the reserved marinara sauce over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Arrange 1/3 of the frozen ravioli in a single layer over the sauce.
- Top with half of the meat sauce and 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat the layering with another 1/3 of ravioli, remaining meat sauce, and another 1/2 cup of cheese.
- Finish with the final layer of ravioli, the remaining reserved sauce, and the remaining 1/2 cup of mozzarella.
- Optional: Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 20–30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the lasagna rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey, sausage, or meatless crumbles for a different flavor or dietary preference.
- No need to thaw or pre-cook the frozen ravioli — it will cook in the oven.
- Letting the lasagna rest after baking helps it set for cleaner slices.
- For extra sauciness, use up to 2 full jars of marinara sauce.
- Garnish with fresh basil or parsley for color and flavor.
