Description

These reindeer cupcakes are a delightful and festive treat perfect for the holiday season. With moist cupcakes, creative decorating, and a fun reindeer design, they’re ideal for classroom parties, holiday gatherings, or family baking projects. The cupcakes are topped with chocolate antlers, black icing eyes, and a bright red nose to resemble a reindeer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box of cake mix (or your favorite cupcake recipe)
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup candy melts chocolate
  • 1 tube red icing (Wilton preferred)
  • 1 tube brown icing (Wilton preferred)
  • 1 tube black decorator icing (Wilton preferred)
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips (for antlers)
  • 1 pack eyeball sprinkles
  • 12 festive cupcake liners
  • 1 sheet parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with festive cupcake liners.
  2. Scoop cupcake batter into each liner using a cookie scoop to ensure even sizes. Bake according to the cake mix instructions, typically for 17 minutes, and let the cupcakes cool on a cooling rack for 15-20 minutes.
  3. While the cupcakes are cooling, melt the candy melts chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl at 30% power, stirring every 30 seconds until fully melted.
  4. Pour the melted chocolate into a disposable decorating bag fitted with a #4 decorating tip. Lay a piece of parchment paper flat and pipe “Y” shaped antlers. Make extra in case some break. Allow to harden.
  5. Once the cupcakes have cooled, prepare the icing bags by filling one with red icing, another with brown icing, and one more with black icing.
  6. For the reindeer’s face, pipe the brown icing in a spiral on top of the cupcake, starting at the outer edge and moving towards the center.
  7. Attach the chocolate antlers to each cupcake using the melted chocolate.
  8. Pipe two small dots with black icing for the reindeer’s eyes.
  9. Finish the design with a bright red nose made with red icing.
  10. Admire your festive reindeer cupcakes and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a more realistic look, consider using edible googly eyes instead of black icing dots.
  • Add a small box of pudding and an extra egg to your cake mix for a fluffier cupcake.
  • Allow cupcakes to cool completely before decorating to prevent the icing from melting.
  • Leftover cupcakes can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days or frozen for up to 1 week before decorating.
