Description

Salted Peppermint Bark is a festive treat combining rich chocolate, refreshing peppermint, and a savory touch of sea salt. This easy-to-make dessert is perfect for gifting, parties, or a holiday snack. With just four ingredients, it offers a delightful balance of flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces dark chocolate (chips, melting wafers, or candy melts)
  • 12 ounces white chocolate (chips, melting wafers, or candy melts)
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract (optional)
  • 3 ounces crushed peppermint (candy canes)
  • 1½ teaspoons sea salt flakes

Instructions

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler, melt the dark chocolate. If using a microwave, heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until completely melted and smooth.
  2. Once melted, pour the dark chocolate onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and spread it evenly.
  3. In a separate microwave-safe bowl or double boiler, melt the white chocolate. Add peppermint extract if desired, stirring until smooth.
  4. After the dark chocolate has slightly set (about 5 minutes), pour the melted white chocolate on top of the dark chocolate layer.
  5. Sprinkle the crushed peppermint and sea salt flakes evenly on top of the white chocolate layer.
  6. Allow the bark to set at room temperature for at least 30 minutes or until fully hardened.
  7. Once set, break the bark into pieces using a sharp knife or by hand. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Ensure the dark chocolate is only partially set before adding the white chocolate to prevent the layers from separating.
  • You can use sea salt in a salt grinder for small flakes or sea salt flakes for a more noticeable effect.
  • If you want a smoother texture, avoid using crushed peppermint candies with large pieces.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
