Description

This rich and buttery sourdough garlic bread is loaded with roasted garlic, fragrant herbs, and nutty parmesan cheese. It’s the perfect side dish that’s both simple to prepare and full of flavor, making it ideal for any meal or gathering.


Ingredients

  • 14 oz Sourdough Loaf
  • 10 tablespoon Unsalted Butter
  • 12 cloves Garlic, peeled
  • 2 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 2 tablespoon Parsley, roughly chopped (plus more for garnish)
  • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
  • ¼ teaspoon Sea Salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the sourdough loaf into 1-inch slices, being careful not to slice all the way through. Place it on a parchment or foil-lined sheet pan.
  2. In a small ramekin, combine garlic cloves and red pepper flakes. Cover with olive oil and roast in the oven for 20-25 minutes until the garlic is fork-tender. Let it cool, then smash the garlic cloves.
  3. In a bowl, mix softened butter, smashed garlic, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, parsley, and parmesan cheese. Add sea salt to taste.
  4. Use a small spatula to spread the garlic butter mixture generously into the slits of the bread.
  5. Wrap the bread in foil and bake for 15 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes for a crispy golden finish.

Notes

  • Be sure to slice the bread carefully with a serrated knife to avoid crushing it.
  • If you prefer a vegan version, substitute the butter with a plant-based alternative and use vegan cheese.
  • Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese, like mozzarella or cheddar, to alter the flavor.
