Description

This Spicy Ricotta Dip with Hot Honey is a perfect combination of creamy ricotta cheese, spicy heat from chili flakes and hot sauce, and the sweetness of honey. It’s quick to prepare, making it an ideal appetizer for any occasion. With its smooth texture and bold flavor, it’s sure to impress your guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh ricotta cheese
  • Grated zest from half a lemon
  • Juice from half a lemon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • A dash of black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup runny honey
  • 1 teaspoon spicy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed chili flakes
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons freshly chopped rosemary
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped

Instructions

  1. Blend the ricotta mixture: In a food processor or high-speed blender, combine the ricotta cheese, lemon juice, lemon zest, salt, pepper, and olive oil. Blend these ingredients on high speed until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy, about 1-2 minutes.
  2. Prepare the honey mixture: In a small bowl, mix together the liquid honey, hot sauce, and chili flakes until fully combined.
  3. Assemble the dip: Spread the whipped ricotta in a shallow bowl. Drizzle the prepared honey mixture over the ricotta.
  4. Top the dip: Sprinkle chopped walnuts and minced rosemary on top of the ricotta dip.
  5. Serve and enjoy: This dip is best served with crackers, crostini, or fresh vegetables for dipping.

Notes

  • Let the ricotta sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before use to achieve a smooth texture.
  • If the ricotta is watery, strain it in a fine-mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth for 30 minutes to remove excess liquid.
  • Adjust the heat level of the dip by adding more chili flakes or spicy sauce if desired.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Keep the honey mixture separate.
