Description

St Patrick’s Day Puppy Chow is a festive no-bake snack mix made with crispy rice cereal coated in a creamy peanut butter and chocolate mixture, then dusted in powdered sugar and tossed with green candies and shamrock marshmallows for the perfect holiday treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 9 cups crisp rice cereal squares
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup green candy melts
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup green candy-coated chocolates
  • 1 cup shamrock-shaped marshmallows
  • 2 tablespoons green sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Place the 9 cups of crisp rice cereal in a very large mixing bowl and set aside.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 cup green candy melts, 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1 cup creamy peanut butter, and 4 tablespoons unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until fully melted and smooth.
  3. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and mix until glossy.
  4. Pour the melted mixture over the cereal and gently fold until all pieces are evenly coated.
  5. Transfer the coated cereal into a large zip-top bag, add 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, seal, and shake until fully coated.
  6. Spread the mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and allow it to cool completely.
  7. Once cooled, gently mix in 1 cup green candy-coated chocolates, 1 cup shamrock marshmallows, and 2 tablespoons green sprinkles.
  8. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature.

Notes

  • Do not overheat the chocolate mixture to prevent seizing.
  • Allow the coated cereal to cool fully before adding candies to avoid melting.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • For a nut-free version, substitute peanut butter with sunflower seed butter.
