Description
Sticky Bourbon Chicken Skewers are sweet, smoky, and irresistibly glazed with a rich bourbon-infused marinade. These easy-to-make skewers are perfect for grilling or stovetop cooking, making them a great choice for weeknight dinners or summer gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ cup honey
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup bourbon
- Wooden skewers
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning. Cut the chicken into long strips or bite-sized pieces for easy threading.
- Make the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, honey, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, and bourbon until well combined.
- Marinate the Chicken: Place the chicken pieces in a resealable bag or container and pour the marinade over them. Seal and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight for deeper flavor.
- Cook the Skewers: If using a stovetop, heat a large pan over medium heat. If grilling, preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Thread the marinated chicken onto skewers, leaving a little space between each piece for even cooking.
- Caramelize the Sauce: Place the skewers in the pan or on the grill, cooking for 8–10 minutes while turning occasionally. Brush the chicken with extra marinade as it cooks to create a rich, sticky glaze. If desired, simmer any remaining marinade separately until thickened for extra dipping sauce.
- Serve and Enjoy: Remove the skewers from the heat and let them rest for a couple of minutes before serving. Enjoy them as-is or alongside rice, vegetables, or a fresh salad.
Notes
- For a thicker sauce: Reduce the marinade longer or add a cornstarch slurry.
- Make it spicier: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
- Alternative proteins: Try this recipe with pork, tofu, or shrimp.
- Storage: Leftover chicken can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
