Description

Sticky Bourbon Chicken Skewers are sweet, smoky, and irresistibly glazed with a rich bourbon-infused marinade. These easy-to-make skewers are perfect for grilling or stovetop cooking, making them a great choice for weeknight dinners or summer gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup bourbon
  • Wooden skewers

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning. Cut the chicken into long strips or bite-sized pieces for easy threading.
  2. Make the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, honey, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, and bourbon until well combined.
  3. Marinate the Chicken: Place the chicken pieces in a resealable bag or container and pour the marinade over them. Seal and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight for deeper flavor.
  4. Cook the Skewers: If using a stovetop, heat a large pan over medium heat. If grilling, preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Thread the marinated chicken onto skewers, leaving a little space between each piece for even cooking.
  5. Caramelize the Sauce: Place the skewers in the pan or on the grill, cooking for 8–10 minutes while turning occasionally. Brush the chicken with extra marinade as it cooks to create a rich, sticky glaze. If desired, simmer any remaining marinade separately until thickened for extra dipping sauce.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Remove the skewers from the heat and let them rest for a couple of minutes before serving. Enjoy them as-is or alongside rice, vegetables, or a fresh salad.

Notes

  • For a thicker sauce: Reduce the marinade longer or add a cornstarch slurry.
  • Make it spicier: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
  • Alternative proteins: Try this recipe with pork, tofu, or shrimp.
  • Storage: Leftover chicken can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
