Description

Texas Roadhouse Butter Chicken is a savory skillet dish where succulent chicken breasts or thighs are seared until golden and then simmered in a rich, flavorful honey garlic butter sauce. The dish is enhanced by the perfect combination of spices, creating a comforting and indulgent meal that’s perfect for family dinners or entertaining guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • Salt, to taste
  • Cracked black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: Shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
  • Optional: Caramelized onions

Instructions

  1. Season both sides of the chicken breasts or thighs with salt, cracked black pepper, and paprika. Let sit for about 5 minutes.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add the chicken and cook until golden brown on both sides (about 5-6 minutes per side), then remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and cook the minced garlic for 30 seconds to 1 minute, until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and stir in the honey. Scrape the browned bits from the pan with a wooden spoon to incorporate them into the sauce.
  5. Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon the sauce over the chicken. Let simmer uncovered for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
  6. If using cheese, sprinkle it over the chicken once the sauce has thickened and cover the skillet to melt the cheese for 1-2 minutes.
  7. Garnish with dried parsley and optional caramelized onions before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F before serving.
  • If the sauce becomes too thick, add a splash of chicken broth to achieve the desired consistency.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge and reheated gently with a splash of broth to revive the sauce.
