Description

Texas Roadhouse Butter Chicken Skillet is a rich, creamy dish featuring tender chicken pieces simmered in a buttery, savory sauce. It’s quick to make, taking only 20 minutes, and is a delicious comfort food option for any night of the week. The creamy sauce, made with heavy cream, chicken broth, and Parmesan, coats the chicken perfectly, making each bite irresistible.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Season the chicken pieces with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken to the skillet and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the chicken and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Add chicken broth and bring to a simmer, allowing it to reduce for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens and becomes creamy, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss it in the creamy sauce. Let everything simmer together for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the chicken to soak in the flavors.
  6. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Ensure the chicken is fully cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  • If the sauce becomes too thick, add a little more chicken broth or cream to adjust the consistency.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute dairy-free butter, cream, and cheese alternatives.
