Description

This easy turkey melt combines layers of juicy turkey, melted cheddar, crispy bacon, fresh spinach, and tomatoes, all pressed between golden-buttery sourdough. It’s a perfect quick meal, ideal for lunch or dinner, and fully customizable with your favorite cheeses and add-ins.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices sourdough or thick, crusty bread
  • 2 tablespoons honey mustard
  • 2 slices white cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices deli turkey
  • 1 medium red tomato, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup fresh baby spinach
  • 4 strips cooked bacon
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Assemble the sandwiches: Lay the bread slices on a clean surface. Spread honey mustard on each slice, then place a slice of cheddar on top. On two of the slices, layer turkey, tomatoes, spinach, and bacon, then close the sandwiches with the remaining cheese-topped bread slices.
  2. Butter the bread: Spread a thin layer of butter on the outside of each sandwich. This helps create a crispy, golden crust when toasted.
  3. Toast the sandwiches: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Once warm, place the sandwiches in the pan and let them toast for about 3–4 minutes on one side. Press down slightly with a spatula to ensure even melting.
  4. Flip and cook: Carefully turn the sandwich over and cook for another 3–4 minutes until the bread is golden and the cheese is fully melted. Adjust the heat as needed to prevent burning.
  5. Serve and enjoy: Transfer the sandwiches to a plate, let them rest for a minute, then slice in half and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, use a panini press instead of a skillet.
  • If using thick-cut turkey, warm it slightly before assembling to ensure even heating.
  • Try adding caramelized onions, avocado, or a fried egg for more flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. Reheat in a skillet over low heat.
