Description

Thick Chocolate Chip Cookies are soft, bakery-style cookies with golden crisp edges and chewy, gooey centers packed with semisweet chocolate chips. Made with simple pantry ingredients like butter, brown sugar, flour, and vanilla, these cookies deliver rich flavor and a thick texture that makes them perfect for dessert, snacks, or sharing with family and friends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together 1 cup softened unsalted butter, 1 cup packed brown sugar, and 1/2 cup granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the 2 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in 2 teaspoons vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together 3 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Scoop about 3 tablespoons of dough per cookie and place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
  8. For thicker cookies, refrigerate the dough balls for 30 minutes before baking.
  9. Bake for 12–14 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the centers remain slightly soft.
  10. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Chilling the dough for at least 30 minutes helps create thicker cookies and enhances flavor.
  • Avoid overmixing the dough to keep the cookies soft and tender.
  • For bakery-style presentation, press a few extra chocolate chips on top of each dough ball before baking.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
  • The cookie dough can be frozen for up to 3 months for convenient future baking.
