Description

Traeger Buffalo Chicken Dip is a smoky, creamy, and spicy appetizer made with shredded chicken, cream cheese, Greek yogurt, hot sauce, and melted cheddar, all infused with wood-fired flavor from a pellet grill. Perfect for game day, parties, and backyard gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 whole chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs total)
  • 2 tablespoons buffalo seasoning
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup hot sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarse black pepper
  • 1 spring onion, thinly sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your Traeger grill to 200°F and load with apple or cherry wood pellets.
  2. Season the chicken breasts with 1 tablespoon buffalo seasoning, kosher salt, and black pepper.
  3. Place chicken directly on the grill grates and smoke for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  4. Remove chicken from the grill, rest for 10 minutes, then shred finely using two forks.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine shredded chicken, softened cream cheese, Greek yogurt, hot sauce, remaining 1 tablespoon buffalo seasoning, garlic powder, celery salt, and 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. Mix until smooth and evenly combined.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish or cast-iron skillet and spread evenly.
  8. Top with the remaining 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese.
  9. Increase grill temperature to 350°F and smoke the dip for 25–30 minutes, until hot, bubbly, and golden on top.
  10. Remove from grill, garnish with sliced spring onion, and serve warm with chips or celery sticks.

Notes

  • You can substitute rotisserie chicken to reduce prep time.
  • For extra heat, add 1–2 tablespoons additional hot sauce.
  • Blue cheese crumbles can be added for a classic buffalo wing flavor.
  • If using an oven, bake at 350°F for 20–30 minutes until bubbly.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
