Description

This easy homemade Turtles Candy recipe combines buttery caramel, toasted pecans, and rich milk chocolate into irresistible bite-sized clusters. Made with only 4 ingredients and no special equipment, it’s perfect for holiday gifting or quick indulgent treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1/4 cup thick caramel ice cream topping
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon shortening (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spread pecan halves on a baking sheet and toast for 7–10 minutes, stirring halfway. Let them cool completely.
  2. In a bowl, mix toasted pecans with 1/4 cup caramel topping until evenly coated.
  3. Drop heaping tablespoons of the mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Chill in the fridge for 1–2 hours until firm.
  4. In a heatproof bowl, microwave chocolate chips and optional shortening in 15–20 second intervals, stirring between each, until fully melted and smooth.
  5. Drizzle or spoon the melted chocolate over each caramel-pecan cluster. Let set at room temperature or refrigerate for quicker results.
  6. Once the chocolate is set, store the candies in an airtight container in the fridge or serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use thick caramel sauce to prevent runny clusters.
  • High-quality chocolate improves flavor and texture.
  • Toasting pecans enhances their nutty flavor.
  • Optional shortening makes chocolate smoother and easier to drizzle.
  • Store in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.
