Description

Tzatziki sauce is a creamy, refreshing, and easy-to-make Greek dip made with cucumber, Greek yogurt, garlic, olive oil, and fresh herbs like dill and mint. This versatile sauce is perfect for serving with pita, grilled veggies, falafel, or as a topping for Mediterranean dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup finely grated cucumber
  • 1 cup thick whole milk Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • ½ tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove, grated
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint (optional)

Instructions

  1. Grate the cucumber using the largest holes on a box grater.
  2. Squeeze out the excess moisture from the grated cucumber using a clean towel or paper towels.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix the cucumber, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil, grated garlic, sea salt, dill, and mint (if using).
  4. Chill the tzatziki in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Do not skip squeezing the cucumber, as this prevents the sauce from becoming watery.
  • Use fresh dill and mint for the best flavor.
  • Tzatziki can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • If you prefer a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
