Description

These 4th Of July Oreo Balls are an easy no-bake patriotic dessert made with crushed Oreo cookies, cream cheese, colorful candy melts, and festive sprinkles. With a rich cookies-and-cream cheesecake filling and red, white, and blue decorations, they are perfect for Independence Day parties, picnics, and summer celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (about 45 regular Oreo cookies) Oreo Cookies
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 12 oz blue candy melts
  • 12 oz red candy melts
  • 1/3 cup white melting wafers
  • 2 tbsp white star confetti sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Line 2 baking trays with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Place 1 lb Oreo cookies in a food processor and pulse into fine crumbs.
  3. Beat 8 oz softened cream cheese in a large bowl until smooth.
  4. Add the Oreo crumbs and mix until fully combined.
  5. Using a small cookie scoop, form evenly sized balls and roll them smooth with your hands.
  6. Place the balls on the prepared trays and refrigerate for 2 hours, or freeze for 15–20 minutes.
  7. Melt 12 oz blue candy melts in a double boiler over low heat until smooth.
  8. Dip half of the chilled Oreo balls into the melted blue coating and tap off excess.
  9. Immediately decorate with white star confetti sprinkles and refrigerate until set.
  10. Melt 12 oz red candy melts in a clean double boiler until smooth.
  11. Dip the remaining Oreo balls into the red coating and place them on the tray.
  12. Melt 1/3 cup white melting wafers and transfer to a piping bag.
  13. Drizzle white lines over the red-coated Oreo balls.
  14. Refrigerate all Oreo balls for 10 minutes or until the coating is fully set.
  15. Serve chilled and store leftovers in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Use regular Oreo cookies rather than Double Stuf or Mega Stuf varieties for the best texture.
  • Chill the Oreo balls thoroughly before dipping to prevent cracking and melting.
  • Add sprinkles immediately after dipping while the coating is still wet.
  • A double boiler provides smoother candy coating than a microwave.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Freeze for up to 2 months with parchment paper between layers.
  • White chocolate or almond bark may be substituted for white melting wafers.
