Description

Baked Brie in Puff Pastry with Honey, Fig, and Prosciutto is a luxurious appetizer that combines rich brie cheese, sweet fig preserves, aromatic honey, and savory prosciutto, all wrapped in buttery, flaky puff pastry. It’s perfect for any special occasion or casual gathering, providing a delicious contrast of flavors and textures that will impress your guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (8-12 oz) wheel of brie cheese
  • 1-2 tablespoons honey
  • 1-2 tablespoons fig preserves
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 4-8 slices thin prosciutto
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse sugar, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Lay the thawed puff pastry flat on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Place the wheel of brie in the center of the pastry and score the top with a knife in a crosshatch pattern.
  3. Spread fig preserves over the brie, drizzle with honey, and sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves and black pepper.
  4. Wrap the prosciutto slices around the brie and fold the puff pastry up and over, sealing the edges well.
  5. Brush the pastry with the beaten egg and sprinkle lightly with coarse sugar for added crunch and sweetness.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until the pastry is golden brown and crispy.
  7. Serve warm with crackers, bread, or apple slices.

Notes

  • Ensure the puff pastry is properly thawed but cold before using to prevent cracks.
  • Score the brie to allow the honey and fig preserves to infuse into the cheese.
  • Allow the brie to rest for 5 minutes before slicing to avoid spilling too much cheese.
  • If you’re making this in advance, you can assemble it up to 24 hours ahead and bake it right before serving.
