Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (8-ounce) wheel Brie cheese
- 1/4 cup fig jam
- 3 fresh figs, chopped
- 1/4 cup shelled pistachios, roughly chopped
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- Sliced baguette, crostini, or assorted crackers, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place the Brie wheel in a small oven-safe baking dish or cast-iron skillet lined with parchment paper if desired.
- In a small bowl, combine the fig jam, chopped fresh figs, chopped pistachios, and orange zest.
- Spoon the fig mixture evenly over the top of the Brie.
- Sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper.
- Bake for 15 to 17 minutes, or until the Brie is soft and melted in the center without bursting.
- Remove from the oven and immediately drizzle with honey.
- Garnish with fresh thyme leaves.
- Serve warm with sliced baguette, crackers, crostini, apple slices, or pears.
Notes
- Leave the Brie rind on to help the cheese hold its shape while baking.
- Do not overbake, or the cheese may leak out of the rind.
- Toast the pistachios beforehand for extra flavor and crunch.
- Dried figs can be substituted for fresh figs when they are out of season.
- Prepare the appetizer several hours ahead and refrigerate until ready to bake.
- Serve immediately for the creamiest texture.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat gently in a 325°F (165°C) oven until warmed through.
