Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz lo mein noodles (or spaghetti)
- 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1/2 cup shredded carrots
- 1/2 cup bell pepper, sliced
- 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, mixed with 2 tablespoons water)
Instructions
- Cook the lo mein noodles according to package instructions until just tender. Drain and set aside.
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil. Add sliced flank steak and marinate for 10–15 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, sauté garlic, ginger, and onion for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add broccoli, carrots, and bell pepper. Stir-fry for 4–5 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Return the beef to the skillet and add the cooked noodles.
- Add oyster sauce and toss everything together until evenly coated.
- If a thicker sauce is desired, stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1–2 minutes until thickened.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.
Notes
- Slice beef thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
- Cook on high heat to achieve authentic stir-fry flavor and texture.
- Do not overcook noodles; they should remain slightly firm.
- You can substitute spaghetti if lo mein noodles are unavailable.
- Add chili sauce or red pepper flakes for a spicy variation.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
